This however doesn't effect the timing the ECM is putting in. I am puzzled why the timing retards. I do have a new pick up coil in the dizzy but don't see how this would cause the timing to retard. The timing does advance once the rpms come up over about 1000 or so. Darrell

There should be marks stamped on the outer edge of the timing gears which MUST all line up at the same time.On your centre gear there are 3 marks stamped around it, one for the injector pump, one for the cam and one for the crankshaft gear.Once you do this should be good to go.Take your time it might take a few ...
