WebClinical Presentation. There may be follicular papules and pustules on the hair-bearing areas of the face, scalp, and neck. On occasion, the lesions coalesce and form abscesses, draining sinuses, or a larger group of infected hair follicles called carbuncles. Many of the lesions may have pustules centrally.
